Welcome to the launch of the Seedstock Marketing Services (SMS) Beef Genetics website. They have selected and secured the listed genetics in a worldwide search studying the environment, pedigrees and the structure suitable to NEW ZEALAND terrain and grassland low costs systems.
It’s also to be noted that as a genetics company they offer the widest range of genetic diversity in bloodlines worldwide.
They also had the opportunity to view the Angus sire Double AA OLD POST Bandolier, his great dam and progeny and came away very impressed. OLD POST is a fresh pedigree with great structure and impeccable disposition.
The highlight was the CAR herd in Northern Montana. Fed under similar New Zealand systems and with the longevity within the herd, you as an Angus breeder, can tap into these genetics in the sire CAR EFFICENT 534.
They visited 21 RANCHES. The home of HARB PENDLETON 765 and 21 AR ROUNDUP 7005. The ROUNDUP calves were exceptional.
On their visit to Midland Bull Test Station they selected 2 South Devon bulls and checked there dam lines for soundness.
Next they took in the bull studs GENEX and ORIGEN. The highlight was 21 AR ROUNDUP 7005 and GAR ULTIMATE.
To end the tour they attended the LINDSKOV THIEL SALE where Lindsay selected and leased the Charolais bull LT RUSHMORE for both NEW ZEALAND and AUSTRALIA.
Recently they visited the ROYAL HIGHLAND SHOW and herds in SCOTLAND and ENGLAND. They concluded in the main these Genetics are too large and too unproductive for our systems in NEW ZEALAND.

Peter Courtney lived his life like no other… he was a true visionary in every sense of the word.
It is impossible to count the lives that this one man has touched. Peter believed that if you wish others to believe in you, you must first convince them that you believe in them. Peter did believe in people and helped an astronomical amount of them achieve things that few thought possible or believed was within their reach. Join us for the historic dispersal of Triple C Farms on Saturday, October 3, 2009 at 10:00 AM CDT At the Farm • 2609 County Hwy. S Emerald, Wisconsin • View the catalog online • View the Triple C Farms website And if you are unable to be present at this historic sale, check out www.edjecast.com for real time bidding.

The History Series at Salisbury House & Gardens is an educational and cultural program for all ages. In addition to the evening lectures, The Salisbury House Foundation works with the Des Moines Public Schools to sponsor an interactive session between the historian and talented and gifted high school students, scheduled in conjunction with each presentation in this lecture series. Students are given materials in advance. This program provides students with a rare opportunity to delve deeper into the historian's subject.
The 2009-2010 Lecture Series begins September 17, 2009 with James Reston, Jr.'s lecture on Defenders of the Faith: Charles V, Suleyman the Magnificent, and the Battle for Europe, 1520-1536. James Reston, Jr., is the author of fourteen previous books, including Warriors of God, Dogs of God, Galileo: A Life, and The Conviction of Richard Nixon. Winner of the Prix Italia and the Dupont-Columbia Award for his 1983 documentary, "Father Cares: The Last of Jonestown," his books have been translated into thirteen languages. He is also a returning presenter in this series. Tickets are available by calling 515.274.1777.

OWENS SHOW LAMBS HAS A NEW EDJE WEBSITE!
Owens Show Lambs has been raising and showing sheep since 1986. Our two kids - Liz and Matt - are now done showing, but they won classes at the Iowa State Fair in both 4-H and FFA Market Lambs and Ewes, including Reserve Champion FFA Ewe in 2002 and 2003 and FFA Champion Yearling Ewe in 2006. We have used rams from the flocks of Andresen, Nichols, Fields, Karr, Knop, Slack and Schminke. We recently purchased Gunslinger from MacLennans and Sidekick, a Schminke buck lamb out of Last Call. Come check out our lambs in 2010! |

The Sports Page Bar & Grill has a new website! |

The Sports Page Grill has been a restaurant staple in Indianola since 1999. You can get great food at a great price, ranging from big mouth burgers to chicken and pasta. They also have a full bar, and occasionally throw event parties. The sports theme has a great atmosphere for ball parties, a large get together or just a family night out. JR Sheffer and Heather Ferguson, the owners, have since built their business to include locations in Pella and Winterset in Central Iowa. Along with those three Sports Page locations, in the Summer of 2008, they opened another restaurant in Indianola, Brickhouse Pizza & Pasta. You can dine in a cozy atmosphere with exposed brick walls, and hardwood floors. The menu includes delicious Chicago style pizzas, pasta, wraps and salads.
If you are passing through Indianola, Pella or Winterset, give one of these restaurants a try, you are sure to find something that you'll like! Visit http://www.thesportspagegrill.com/ for locations, hours of operation and menus. |
