Simmental Junior Nationals
EDJE Fun
Friday 16th of July 2010 11:06 AM

It was a hot and sticky day on Wednesday in Iowa with temperatures in the 90's and a heat index well over 100.  Sounds like the perfect day to head down to the Iowa State Fairgrounds for Simmental Junior Nationals right?

Kelly P. and myself headed down to the State Fairgrounds right after lunch.  Besides Kelly and I, EDJE also had part of its sales team at Junior Nationals including Nicole, Marc and Diane.  In the pictures at right you will see first a shot of the pavilion - thank goodness there was air conditioning in
there!  Next you will see Kelly P. and myself meeting Lori Eberspacher of Eberspacher Enterprises.  After many years of working with Lori and emailing back and forth, Kelly and I were really glad to meet her in person!  The last picture is of the EDJE booth, but do you see what's missing?  The EDJE Lady!  Unfortunately she didn't make an appearance at Junior Nationals until Thursday and I'm so sorry I missed meeting up with her and getting my picture taken!

It may have been hot and sticky but it was
still a great experience for Kelly P. and I and we had a great time meeting EDJE clients and watching the percentage heifer show.

Visitors At EDJE!
EDJE Fun
Monday 12th of July 2010 04:43 PM

Today we had the pleasure of hosting Doug & Debbie Parke and the newlyweds, Mr. & Mrs. Drew & Holli Hatmaker at the EDJE office in Indianola.  The Parkes and Hatmakers are in town for the Simmental Junior Nationals in Des Moines and thought it would be a good time to stop by the office and meet all of us they call and email each day.

It was great to meet them in person and in honor of their visit, the EDJE employees hosted a potluck lunch. There was lots of good food to eat and good conversation over lunch.

Thank you so much to the Parkes and the Hatmakers for stopping by EDJE today! It was fun to put a face with a name and be able to meet them!

The candy is disappearing fast at EDJE.  The bowl has been filled and emptied several times during the month of October with some of the favorites being Twix, KitKat, Reeses, Snickers, Milky Way and Heath.  Did you know the average American eats 24 pounds of candy per year?  I think that seems like a lot, but with the way we eat candy here at EDJE I kinda believe it!

Here are some fun Halloween candy facts from recipes.kaboose.com

Candy Corn
Fun Fact: Candy Corn was first made in the 1880s, and it was only made March through November. October 30th is National Candy Corn Day.

Snickers
Fun Fact: Snickers was named after a horse owned by the Mars family—inventors of this perennial favorite.

3 Musketeers Bar
Fun Fact: Originally the three layers were chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry nougat. Later the layers were changed to all chocolate.

Tootsie Roll
Fun Fact: Tootsie Rolls debuted in 1896, introduced by Leo Hirshfield of New York, who named them after his daughter’s nickname, “Tootsie.”

M&Ms
Fun Fact: M&M’s were created in response to a dip in summer chocolate sales, and named after their inventors Forrest Mars and Bruce Murray.

Milky Way Bar
Fun Fact: Frank Mars gave the “Milky Way” formula and $50,000 to his son in 1932, to start his own business—Mars Bars were the result. When Mars bars were exported in 1991 to Russia for the first time they were so popular that they needed to be rationed to 4 bars per person.

Junior Mints
Fun Fact: Junior Mints were named after the developer’s favorite Broadway play, “Junior Miss.” Both “Junior Miss” and the movie “Meet Me in St. Louis” were based upon the stories of Sally Benson

Happy Halloween!

Pumpkin Carving Contest - Vote NOW!!!
EDJE Fun
Thursday 22nd of October 2009 06:10 PM

Happy Halloween from the EDJE Lady!

Hello there & Happy Halloween to you all.  Today I am writing this note to invite all of you to take a look at something.  The employees at EDJE have put together their 5th Annual Pumpkin Carving Contest and they’d like you to vote on your favorite.  Oh my, you just can’t believe how talented these people are.  Their pumpkin carvings are just wonderful and so creative.  I tell you what, I have been very busy making pumpkin pies with all the pumpkins they have been carving!  They sure are keeping me busy.

If you’ve never heard of the EDJE Pumpkin Carving Contest well then you are in for a treat.  Designers at EDJE can volunteer to take home a pumpkin & carve it up with their best design.  I’ve seen everything from barns to bats and cattle to coffins carved in those gourds!  I can’t deny this year I do have a strong favorite in the contest… can you guess which one it is?  I guess you’ll just have to take a look!

Well folks, I’ve got to run!  I’m making a zombie costume for Bobby today and a princess costume for Mary Lynn.  Did you see the picture of me in my Halloween costume?  I think it turned out just swell.  I promise to blog again soon!

- The EDJE Lady

HAWKEYE FANS @ EDJE
EDJE Fun
Friday 11th of September 2009 02:53 PM

This weekend is the "big game" in the state of Iowa.  The University of Iowa Hawkeyes versus the Iowa State Cyclones.  This is a big rivalry game in Iowa and at EDJE we always have a Tailgate Day to celebrate this rivalry and of course to EAT!  This year (as always) the Hawk Fans were the majority!

We held our 2009 annual picnic on August 12th. All the out of state employees joined us "in house" employees for a few days of brain storming, motivating and just some good EDJE fun!

Every annual picnic we also announce our annual awards (see below). Congrats to all and thanks for making the 2009 company picnic a success -- and remember, small is the new BIG! Here is to another year!
