July 2010 - Design of the Month
Design of the Month
Wednesday 4th of August 2010 11:10 AM

Congratulations to HH Southbend for winning July's Design of the Month!

HH Southbend Farm is located in Southern Minnesota. They started raising shorthorns the spring of 2001. As a crop, cattle, and hog farm. Their kids, Andrea & Kelsey, have been active with 4H and FFA. The year of 2001 their oldest daughter's 4H dairy steers were lost in a fallen barn. To find a replacement show animal, Roger found a shorthorn heifer and so began their plunge into the beef/shorthorn breed. After that year they fell in love with shorthorns and continued to learn about and pursue quality genetics.

THeir first heifer, Cannondale Glster Ldy 125, received reserve champion shorthorn heifer at the MN State Fair in 2001.

In 2002 they purchased two heifers from the Anderson family in Spring Valley, WI. One of which went on to win first in her class at the MN State Fair 2003, and the other is a grandam to our 2009 Champion Shorthorn Plus Steer at the MN State Fair.

Click here to take a look at HH Southbend's new website!

Stay tuned on August 10th, EDJE will be hosting our annual company picnic where we'll be announcing the Design of the Year! Good luck to all designers!

We keep it as simple as possible without leaving anything out, as you will see it is a step by step process, so let’s get the ball rolling!

“I found Positive Perfection a great no hassle way to find a job in Canada. They are very prompt in replying to emails and are always happy to answer any questions regarding work and travel through Canada. They had a great range of jobs available and are able to find the job to suit what you are looking for. I am thoroughly enjoying my time over here and would definitely recommend it to anyone that has an interest in Canadian lifestyle and agriculture.

I am currently on a cow/calf stud (Lewis Farms) which has a great reputation for producing quality bulls for farms in Alberta, approx 100kms north-west of Edmonton. The job entails anything from vaccinating calves, feeding cattle, general farm maintenance and cropping. I have always been interested in Canada and wanted to experience it first hand to explore new farm practices including both livestock production and dry land cropping.”
